Physiotherapy

Sarah graduated from the University of Victoria in 2001 with her Bachelor of Science in Biology. It was her love for rowing that initially brought her to this university and it was here she found her passion for anatomy. Sarah then proceeded to the University of Western Ontario where she completed her Master of Physical Therapy in 2004. After starting her physiotherapy practice in Ontario, the mountains were calling and Sarah headed back west to the Calgary/Cochrane area. After 10 years of working in orthopaedic private practice and completing many continuing education courses she returned to Western in 2014 to complete her Master of Clinical Science in Manipulative Physical Therapy. Successful completion of this program awarded her the designation Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy (FCAMPT) and it was around this time (2013) that Sarah also certified in Gunn IMS needling (cGIMS). Since 2015 Sarah has been mentoring fellow physiotherapists and for 5 years, was involved in teaching physiotherapists in the orthopaedic system. Sarah enjoys treating a variety of clientele from the young to elderly. She loves to use education as well as her hands (manual therapy), exercise prescription and needling when indicated, to help her clients maximize their function. Sarah feels it is important to use her clinical reasoning skills to determine and treat the underlying cause of the problem. More recently her learning endeavours have been in the areas of concussion and vestibular rehabilitation. Sarah enjoys skiing, mountain biking, running and travelling. She spends much of her time off in the mountains in a converted camper van with her husband and 2 dogs.
